1. Skiing and Snow Sports

In winter, Patnitop transforms into a snowy playground. The Jammu & Kashmir Cable Car Corporation operates ski lifts and there are areas designated for skiing. Beginners can take basic ski lessons — equipment can be rented locally.

2. Nathatop Meadow

About 8 km from Patnitop, Nathatop is a large open meadow offering stunning 360-degree views of the surrounding peaks. In summer, it is covered with wildflowers. In winter, it becomes a vast white landscape. A short drive or trek will get you there.

3. Sanasar

Located around 18 km from Patnitop, Sanasar is a bowl-shaped meadow famous for paragliding, camping, and horse riding. The Jammu & Kashmir Tourism Department organises adventure camps here. A must-visit if you are staying in the area for more than one day.

4. Kud

A small town about 22 km from Patnitop, Kud is famous for its patisa (a traditional sweet) sold by local vendors along the highway. If you are driving through, stop for a taste — it is genuinely delicious and unique to this region.

5. Shiv Garh Temple Trek

A moderate trek from Patnitop leads to the ancient Shiv Garh temple. The trail passes through forests and offers beautiful valley views. It is best done in the morning and takes about 3–4 hours return.

Patnitop is located on National Highway 44, the Jammu–Srinagar highway:

  • From Jammu: About 100 km — approximately 3 hours by car or taxi via NH44.
  • From Srinagar: About 275 km — approximately 6–7 hours (subject to road conditions).
  • By Bus: JKSRTC buses run between Jammu and Srinagar — ask to be dropped at Patnitop chowk.
  • Nearest Airport: Jammu Airport, about 105 km away.
